Workforce Training and Services

Connecting more people with more employment opportunities improves lives. Through our Workforce Training and Services program, we want to support Philadelphia residents to successfully prepare for, secure, and retain family sustaining employment. Our initial focus will be on helping to remove the barriers that prevent people from getting the skills they need to land and keep better paying jobs – that’s good for them, their families, and their communities.

We want to invest in critical services and supports that many workforce development programs often can’t – services such as childcare, transportation, clearing justice system records, securing vital personal documents, helping with language and literacy, housing, job coaching, and more. Providing these services helps clear the path for more people to participate in job training programs and to sustain employment in their fields. We are particularly interested in programs that are helping young people, ages 16 to 24, who are not in school and not working; individuals with criminal records or justice system involvement; and immigrants who face language and cultural barriers. We also want to enhance coordination and collaboration among job training programs and social service agencies and advance public policies that can tackle systemic barriers to training.
