Communications

Carolyn Huckabay manages communications for the Foundation's Children and Families, Democracy and Civic Initiatives, and Workforce Training and Services teams. Her role focuses on supporting grantees and amplifying their work through media relations, storytelling, and strategic communications.

A Philadelphia resident for the past two decades, Carolyn spent the last 12 years leading communications strategy at The Food Trust, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit dedicated to improving nutrition security in the city and in communities across the country. She led major public relations, branding, website and advertising initiatives; helped farmers, corner store owners, schools and community partners to share their stories; and supported staff in an internal communications capacity. Previous to this role, she served mission-driven clients like FringeArts, the Asian Arts Initiative, and Mural Arts Philadelphia at a boutique public relations firm; and was the Arts Editor and Copy Chief at the Philadelphia City Paper, covering the region's most memorable, distinctive cultural happenings. Carolyn also served on the South Philly Food Co-op's Board of Directors during its pre-construction and fundraising phase in 2016-19.

Carolyn holds a B.A. In English from the University of Mary Washington (formerly Mary Washington College). Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, enjoying East Passyunk's incredible array of restaurants and bakeries, and traveling near and far.
