A glimpse into our watershed at this year's Flower Show

When we learned the theme of this year’s PHS Flower Show would be focused on water, we knew it was an opportunity that could be leveraged as a teaching moment. While the show focuses on plants and flowers, the theme of water was chosen to make the connection between the two; how water keeps plants alive and thriving, and how the land in turn affects clean water.

The Foundation funded a special exhibit called “Windows on the Watershed,” which shares scenes that can be found across the Delaware River watershed: mountains, wetlands, urban riverbanks, and tidal marshes. Visitors are learning about how each type of land cover plays a role in keeping our water clean.

This week during the show, guides from the Alliance for Watershed Education, a group of 23 environmental centers in the region working to educate communities about the watershed, are on hand to interpret the exhibit.
